As a dad who loves the great outdoors, I know firsthand how important it is to find local outdoor activities that the whole family can enjoy. Lucky for us, Miami Gardens offers a wide variety of outdoor activities that are not only fun but also family-friendly. In this post, I’ll share some of my favorite outdoor activities in Miami Gardens that you and your family can enjoy.
Camping
If you’re a camping enthusiast like myself, then you’ll be happy to know that Miami Gardens has several campgrounds that offer beautiful scenery and a great camping experience. One of my personal favorites is the Oleta River State Park campground. This park offers campsites for both tents and RVs, as well as access to beautiful beaches, kayaking, and fishing. Not to mention, it’s only a short drive from downtown Miami.
Another great option for camping is the Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park campground. This park offers over 200 campsites, each with water and electric hookups, and access to a beautiful lake with great fishing opportunities. It’s also just a short drive from the Miami Zoo, making it the perfect place to take the kids for an outdoor adventure.
Hiking
Miami Gardens has several hiking trails that offer beautiful scenery and a great workout. One of my personal favorites is the Amelia Earhart Park Trail. This trail is just over 5 miles long and offers beautiful views of the park’s lakes and lush landscape. It’s also a great place to bring your furry friend, as the trail is dog-friendly.
Another great hiking option is the Greynolds Park Nature Trail. This trail is just over a mile long and offers beautiful views of the park’s mangrove forests and lagoons. There are also several picnic areas and playgrounds along the trail, making it a great place to bring the whole family.
Off-Road Driving
If you’re looking for a thrilling outdoor adventure, then off-road driving might be just what you need. Miami Gardens has several off-road parks that offer exciting terrain for off-roading enthusiasts. One of my personal favorites is the Miami Off-Road Club. This club offers a wide variety of trails for all skill levels, as well as rental options for those who don’t have their own off-road vehicle.
Another great option for off-road driving is the Krome Off-Road Park. This park offers over 17 miles of trails that are perfect for off-roading, as well as access to a mud bog area for those who love to get down and dirty.
Beach Activities
No trip to Miami Gardens would be complete without a visit to one of the many beaches in the area. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing day at the beach or some water activities, Miami Gardens has it all. One of my personal favorites is the Haulover Beach Park. This beach offers beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as opportunities for fishing, boating, and even surfing.
If you’re looking for a more family-friendly beach, then the Matheson Hammock Park Beach might be just what you need. This beach offers calm waters that are perfect for young children, as well as access to a large marina and picnic areas.
